I love your riffage in these peices, and I can tell your raw guitar tone is totally rad. What do you use?
Drums seem to be the most apparent in the songs. I would have probably brought some equality to the instruments but I still like it.
Low pass filter on guitars, and bass guitar and done!

blackrose96 responds:

Yeah, I just can't seem to land a bass and I really don't want to use a VSTi. I use an old Digitech Rp150 and I tweak the hell out of it. I spend hours trying to get the tone just right. I never thought of using a low pass filter. I'll have to look into it on my future projects. Maybe you could help me out a bit with that? PM me!

Bass probably would have completed this!
Guitar tone is very usable, I dig it.
Without bass it's hard to say, but ill try-
Cymbals and hats were hard to hear, except ride. Ride was goods.
With that punk beat, kick was super apparent especially with no bass.
Snare was loud as ballz. I would have compressed these two elements in, rather than use shear volume.

Still awesome.
Still 5/5 5/5

blackrose96 responds:

Dude, thank you so much! The hats and cymbals level were my choice to keep them low. Again, sorry for the lack of bass, but I didn't have one at the time so recording was out of the question. I'm still getting the hang of compression and all of this mastering stuff but I am really glad you enjoyed this despite the flaws it has. Thank you for your words!

Would love to hear this and incorporate your real playing also!
Would be sick for either soloing atop, or doing a drop that has real guitar hahaha
At any rate, props for experimenting out of your comfort zone!!

nunyabizness responds:

Thanks for the review man, always a pleasure. I'd like to start mixing some styles together, a la A7x style with strings, etc. Thanks for the 5. Keep on rocking yourself.

SO SICK AGAIN
I skipped so many of your songs and only heard the new jank!!
These riffs are amazing!

Wish i could hear them with your latest production techniques.

At any rate... that cutoff is so perfect; where do you have your gate??

How did I skip this!
I love these riffs!!!!
SO TECH

Holy crap you are seriously talented!!
WTF MAN!

Poniiboi responds:

We'll be collabing soon, cuz so are you. That Metal Birthday song was ridiculous. You oughta try and sell that to a commercial or something if u haven't.

Hey I can tell you can play!
I know you are working on your mixing/editing stuff.
An option for the heaviest parts is two to four rhythm guitars panned out, with the lead/harmony set in the middle. That would make it big and bold, but not cluttered.
After getting a bunch of tracks going clearly, I would get compression techniques in the mixing phase down. This will add the punch!!
Overall, awesome riffage!!

adilovemetal responds:

Thanks a lot Rob :) I added you back on my youtube "adilovemetal" channel :) cheers

So awesome!!!
I know you have been wrecked busy, but you still put together so much skill these last couple months!

Strings at 3:06 got me!

I could see this with an epic silent short story happening behind it.

TheZaaL responds:

Indeed, for a free vst, those strings sounds are great!! DSK overture is the name!

Thanks a lot Rob!

I love the compression pump. I for one like it heavy.
Kick/bass sidechain setup is perfect so they avoid eachother.
But the vocals don't dodge the pumping quite enough for me.
This concludes my pickiness
Overall I really really dig it!!!
What is your work process like??

Wank at 2:20ish is fav, but I suppose that is to be expected!
Did you double rhythm fiddles? If you did already, forget that I asked.
Little compression, pull the (WIP) off the title.
Good job mang!!!

nunyabizness responds:

Thanks man. I went through about 2 dozen solo variations to come up with that one. Yea, the rhythms were tracked twice, panned separately, same distortion and guitar though so it's tough to tell. In the beginning their is actually 4 guitar tracks. 3 rhythms and the lead. (harmonies one is on the drop d string, the rest are higher harmonies....

I'll play around with the compression and see what happens....I need some studio monitors and could make a better mix haha. This is still a work in progress but I see how that could affect judgment. Thanks for the review man, rock on yourself!

Alright. Let's make some music.
